Fire Services / Prescribed Burning
Fire can be an important tool in the management of Texas ecosystems.
As such, there is an increasing interest and demand on the part of land managers for information and
advice on planning and implementing prescribed burning as well as the impacts of fire on ecosystems.
This course will provide Extension and Natural Resources Conservation Services personnel with a general
background on prescribed burning.
The course is divided into seven educational sections with a wrap-up section at the end. Each section includes reading materials, activities, and videos. You can complete the sections in any order. Upon successful completion of all sections and passing the comprehensive quiz at the end, you will receive a certificate for the Prescribed Rangeland Burning course. You will also be ready to attend a hands-on burning workshop.
Important Note: This is not a comprehensive course on prescribed rangeland burning. Additional hands-on training and mentoring is needed by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, or other qualified individuals.
The QuickTime Player, Adobe Reader, and Adobe Flash Player are needed to complete the course. They can be downloaded using the following links:
