Texas Southern Pine Beetle Prevention Cost Share Program

Texas A&M Forest Service provides financial and technical assistance to forest landowners in an effort to encourage forest landowners to implement preventive measures to minimize or prevent future infestations of Southern Pine Beetle (SPB).  Eligible landowners must own a minimum of 10 contiguous forested acres that are predominately composed of pine species and located within one of the 21 priority counties.

For FY 2018, Texas A&M Forest Service through funding from USDA Forest Service-Region 8 and Forest Health Protection, eligible landowners may receive up to $50.00 per acre to assist in the first thinning of overly dense, pulpwood sized pine stands. Landowners and potential project sites must meet certain eligibility criteria that have been established for the program.

Completed applications for thinning cost-share assistance are due no later than December 31, 2018.
